The downside is that the replacement motors don't produce the power that you get with a stepped cone pulley drive and half horse AC induction motor. WebJul 10, 2024 · Without it being connected to the board, temporarily short the motor wires, then turn the shaft by hand. Unshort the wires and turn by hand again. It should be harder to turn when the wires are shorted. The other way to do it is to connect 12 volts to the motor wires. It will turn- not quickly, but it will run on 12v.

WebThe upgrade motor for the lathe is 350w. The motor I used is capable of putting out up to 2250w. That’s almost 6.5x as much power. The power supply will only kick out 600w however. But that’s still almost twice the upgrade motor for the original unit. The 350w motor runs at 2500(rpm)=261.8(rad/s). 350(w)/261.8(rad/s) = 1.34(Nm). WebNov 27, 2007 · Now the 2 wires can go to A1 and A2. To make the motor go CW or CCW just switch the A1 and A2 wires. I ran the 8 foot pigtail and the 2 DC motor wires through the 1/2 inch comprssion fitting and into the handy box. I grounded the pigtail ground wire to one of the screws that I used to mount the box to the saw leg.

That's 3" on the motor shaft, 9" on the countershaft. The motor housing is fully ventilated i.e. mostly open.
